The Tripartite Soul

Plato introduces the idea that the human soul has three parts:

•Reason (seeks truth and wisdom),

•Spirit (courage and honor),

Appetite (desires and material needs).

Harmony is achieved when reason governs the soul, supported by spirit, and appetite is controlled.
