I’m borrowing something I once heard from Michael B. Beckwith:
"Accept, harvest the good, and forgive."
Accept that things will never be the same. Accept that change has happened, and ground yourself in reality. Give yourself time to sit with it, because acceptance is the first step to moving forward. And acceptance is something we each have to come to on our own.
Harvest the good—take the lessons, the skills gained, the truths uncovered.
And finally, forgive—not for them, but for yourself—so you can look at life with fresh eyes and move forward with a new perspective.

Life has its own course, and things don’t always go as we planned. We wanted a particular job, a college, or a person, and when we don’t get that, we feel disheartened—like the world will never be happy again. It’s as if a gloomy cloud has taken over our bright blue sky. The could-haves, should-haves, would-haves can keep us stuck in endless rumination, dragging us into a downward spiral. This makes letting go an essential part of our growth and well-being.
