The Decision Matrix Approach

The Decision Matrix Approach

Rather than prescribing specific tools, effective digital organization requires mapping your actual scenarios to appropriate workflows through a three-dimensional analysis:

  • Context: Are you at your desk or on the go?
  • Content type: Is this information (knowledge) or action (task)?
  • Impact scope: Does this affect just you or your team?

This creates a decision matrix with eight possible scenarios for each workflow, allowing you to predetermine exactly where each piece of information belongs.

By eliminating the "where should I put this?", you reclaim substantial mental bandwidth for meaningful work.
