Right or wrong is the output of a decision. Good or bad is the input.A good decision is based on the facts at hand when you are making it. A bad decision does not weigh in the facts and relies more on assumptions and guesses. So by making good decisions, you will be right more often. And even when you turn out to be wrong, you made the right decision based on what you knew.

 Making decisions is a profession. Yet, many of us struggle with both timing and method of coming up with the right ones.
 
 These are three methods I've learned that makes me trust my own decisions more, and more often end up being right.
 <h3>1. Know the difference between a good and a right decision</h3>
 Right or wrong is the output of a decision. Good or bad is the input.
 
 A good decision is based on the facts at hand when you are making it. A bad decision does not weigh in the facts and relies more on assumptions and guesses. 
 
 So by making good decisions, you will be right more often. And even when you turn out to be wrong, you made the right decision based on what you knew.

 This might also be a good time to remind ourselves to not judge people by outcomes, but rather by input.
 <h3>2. Never make big decisions</h3>
 Big decisions have powerful outcomes, good and bad. The bet you're making, although calculated, has a risk related to it and the risk grows larger with size.
 
 So ask yourself how you can take this big decision in smaller chunks. 
 <UL><LI>Do you consider changing jobs? Apply for a few and see what the process tells you about your current situation.</LI><LI>Do you consider starting your own company? Start on your spare time, or take some time off from work to figure out if it could become a viable business.</LI><LI>Do you struggle with a strategic decision in your current role? Run parallell strategies until you know more. And be clear with yourself what facts you need to know when the time comes to put all your efforts into one.</LI></UL><BLOCKQUOTE>What is the easiest way to test this decision?</BLOCKQUOTE><h3>3. Always look for more alternatives</h3>
 With more choices comes greater insights. Spreadsheets are my go to decision tool. My options go into columns and the variables affecting the decision into rows, forming a decision matrix. 
 
 When I summarize the outcomes I have often surprised myself with what choice I should go for. 
 
 Two alternatives becomes an either/or-question and binary questions are a sure way to limit your creativity and ambidextrous thinking.
