When stress hits, our instinct is usually to push through, numb out, or beat ourselves up.
The self-compassion break is a short practice you can use in any moment of struggle.
It only takes a minute—but it changes everything.
1. Acknowledge the pain:
“This is a moment of suffering.”
Just naming it softens the intensity.
2. Recognize that struggle is part of being human:
“Suffering is a part of life.”
You’re not broken. You’re not alone.
3. Offer yourself kindness:
“May I be kind to myself in this moment.”
Or: “May I give myself what I need right now.”
